Life is constantly providing us with new funds, new resources, even when we are reduced to immobility. In life's ledger there is no such thing as frozen assets.

 -- Henry Miller

dear marcia

I attended a Congress of the World Union of Progressive Judaism, and after, thought about my dreams. Looking back, the Campbell Survey on Interests and Skills showed that I have gifts for working with helping professions, and creativity. So, my dream is to be committed to my Jewish Congregation, devoting myself to helping people, and also using my creativity through developing skills in arts. I also have a gift for languages, and want to translate issues related to healing, and spirituality into English./Portuguese. Also, I have a 28-year-old son with an intellectual/motor disability; I want to creatively develop a schedule for his self-improvement and development.

I am 59, with three children and one grandson. The past two years flew by without my noticing, and I haven't achieved anything. Now I can recover my time and life; any guidance you can give for how to fit my dreams into my life would be wonderful.

My warmest regards,

C

From Marcia:

Dear C,

Clearly you are a woman of great vision and talents. I hear several dreams. The consistent theme sounds like using your creativity to be of service. Here’s a simple suggestion: for starters, focus on one area. For example, talk to your congregation with the intention of creating a simple and wonderful project that will allow you to share your gifts and serve their needs.

You are young and you are right. Life passes by in the blink of an eye and our moments are precious. Along the way to finding your ideal dream that can encompass all or most of what you love, don't let another day go by without doing something you love. Then you'll be living "on purpose."

Warmly,

Marcia

Dear Big Dreamer,

Our feature this month is about using resources all around you to make your dreams come true. In it, you’ll see that I talk about the uncanny magic that happens when two or more are connected in the pursuit of a goal. That, in part, is what spurred me on to create My Dream Circle our unique, private community for Big Dreamers.

My thinking was that if we could build a community of people intentionally working on their dreams, and supporting each other along the way, big stuff could happen.

And although the community is still very young, we’re starting to see exactly that; people who are coming together, sharing resources, tips, ideas, and giving feedback.  What we’re creating as a community is truly amazing. It’s as if I can feel the dreams swirling around us, and the possibilities just bubbling up as people connect with one another. In our first month, more than 100 people joined our community from various parts of the world and have started to share with others who are dreaming big and doing cool stuff with their lives.

I’d like to invite you to consider whether My Dream Circle might be an extraordinary resource for you as you work toward your dreams. I have no doubt that each of you could benefit from being a member of such a conscious community, and even less doubt that you could give a great deal to others.

As I work toward my ultimate vision to change the conversation in the world about dreams, from fear and illusion to hope and possibility through action and results, I believe that the people involved in My Dream Circle are doing just that. Won’t you join us?  Here's my promise: Bring your dream and commitment and we will do everything we can to help you achieve your dream.

Warmly,

Marcia

Resources in Service to Your Dreams
As we look at how to make your dreams come true, it’s important to look at the resources available to you. Most people are so busy, with hectic lives and every-growing “to do” lists that they can scarcely catch their breath, much less take stock of what’s available and possible, and going on all around them!

For instance, everything in your life is a possibility, most especially yourself. But how much time do you take to really look at what's going on? Pay attention to who you are, what you do, what you like, and who you spend time with. Are you friendly and open? Are you studious? Do you have high powers of concentration? Do you go out dancing, to concerts, plays, or shows? What about the books you read, the videos you watch, the ideas you have, the energy you give off? Everything and everyone that you experience is a resource you can use to design your life, and connect to your dreams. How are you using your personal resources?

And how are you using resources available from others? Although we all have a tendency not to bother others or to recruit assistance, the magic that happens whenever two or more are gathered is uncanny. I personally believe you're only two phone calls away from anyone in the world that you need to contact to get what you want or need. Use this knowledge to your advantage. Learn to ask for help and to make specific requests. Make it easy for people to say yes, and if they say no, ask why. Often people say no when we ask for too much all at once, or when they aren’t clear about what we’re asking for. Practice making powerful requests.

Many people love to make a difference by helping others. Assemble your own Dream Circle by getting clear about what you need, making a list of the skills you need to achieve your dream, finding individuals who have them, and enrolling them by asking for what you want.

It takes focus and commitment to design your life to work this way. It takes time, too, to learn a completely new way to live, think and plan. Keep it simple at first, so you won't feel overwhelmed. And look to your resources to make achieving your dreams faster and easier!
