Dream NoteDear Fellow Dreamers, A friend of mine (someone I would consider proficient in the Dream process) shared with me that he was waiting for a breakthrough to occur in his life. He wanted a change or a miracle, a new client to show up or a problem to go away. My response was, “Breakthroughs don’t just occur. We make them happen by taking action.” He called me a few days later. “I took action and lo and behold, I did break through where I was stuck and got a new client.” The way to create a change is to do something, but since we’re often stopped by fear, this issue is designed to help you move through what might be keeping you from experiencing a breakthrough. Also, as we enter our holiday season, I want to express my deep gratitude and appreciation for having you as part of my community. Thank you for having the courage to follow your heart and for reminding others to do the same. Dream Big, Is Fear Killing Your Dreams? In the face of fear or obstacles, some get immobilized and some get going. For 25 years, as president of Cast of Thousands, Jan Kearney represented performance artists and produced big events for companies. Like many, when 9/11 hit, her business halted. Not afraid to think creatively, she asked herself, “Who needs to be entertained now?” After a few calls, her performers were booked for an extended assignment at airports, to help people lighten up a little while they stood in long lines. Fear can keep us from exploring possibilities. When people say, "I don't have enough money to pursue my dream," I ask, “How much do you need?” Usually the answer is, "I don't know, but I know I don't have enough." It’s similar with time. Are you thinking that you don't have the time to make your dream a priority? An acronym that’s been around for awhile says FEAR can be False Evidence Appearing Real. Early in his career, Harry Houdini traveled the world having local jailers lock him in a cell. He would invite the press, demonstrate his feats and they would write great things about him. He was a rousing success until he got to one town in Ireland. An hour passed and he could not escape. The crowd left ridiculing him and calling his “act” a hoax. When a dejected Harry asked to be released, the jailer gently pressed against the door, which easily opened. It seemed it was never locked. Every time Houdini went to unlock the cell, he locked himself in. Where's the Houdini door in your life? Identify what appears to be stopping you and act on your dream anyway. Doors will fling open when you prove that you are more committed to your dream than you are to your fear. Dream Quote
“The only thing worse than someone with no sight is someone without any vision.” ~Helen Keller Dear Marcia
I started realizing my dream shortly
after reading your book 18 months ago.
I have my own company now -- "CoachDemers.com, sports performance training." I help student athletes and professionals to achieve the maximum of their potential by touching every aspect that goes into developing competitive greatness. In the past 18 months I was able to coach over one thousands athletes, produced two books and a DVD. Thank you! I constantly get ideas and inspirations from the e-mails I receive from you. In the most recent one you talked about the dream circle which I enjoyed. My questions: Do you have any material on how to bring this idea to a group of teenagers? Do you have a program where you share the dream vision with a younger audience? Thank you, *** Dear C., I visited your site and the work you are doing is inspiring. When I work with teens like the Girl Scouts, I use the same process as with any other dreamer and they respond incredibly well. Help them find what they love. Encourage them, believe in them, challenge them, push them, celebrate them ... and most importantly, hold them accountable. Teach them about integrity at a young age so they learn that when they say they are going to do something, they have to really do their best to do it. Thank you for the important work you are doing with teens. If you want ongoing support from me and others, please join My Dream Circle so we can stay in touch! Love, Need help?
