Marcia's Dream Note

Dear Fellow Dreamers,

If you’ve been waiting for the right time to move ahead on your dreams, here it is. You have the opportunity today to take one important step forward on your dream. In this e-letter, I share a powerful technique called "Bridging" that will help you live your dream life right now. Don’t put off being “the best you ever” for one more moment.

Just a reminder, my Dream Weekends are filling up as is the Maui Dream Retreat! Bring a fellow dreamer with you and let's Create Your Future Now in San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Baltimore, Boston and newly added Atlanta. I look forward to working with you in this intimate and very special setting.

Dream Big,

Bridging to Your Dream

One way to accomplish your dream is to figure out how to get from “here to there.” Although strategy is a useful skill, focusing on “how” too soon can cause you to compromise on the dream and squelch your passion.

Bridging is a process I teach that allows you to bring the future to you, now. Think of it as getting from “there to here.” Get clear about what you want and imagine who you will be when you are living that dream.

1. Picture yourself living or “doing” your dream.
2. Ask, “How will my life be different then?”
3. “How will I be different?”
4. What small things can I be doing NOW to begin living this dream?

Here’s an example: Years ago, when I imagined my new life living in San Francisco, being paid well for doing what I love, having wonderful new friends and a beautiful home on the water (all of which I have now) I asked myself; who I would be, how I would look, live, dress and act once I actually made the move.

I saw myself as happy, healthy and vital. I saw myself with longer hair and shorter skirts (okay, it was many years ago). I pictured myself “lunching” with friends, playing tennis, etc. In other words, having the time to do the things I enjoyed. I saw myself spending more time at the water and laughing.

I began doing these things while I was still living (my old life) in Washington, DC. I bridged my worlds. I became (or began to be) the person I wanted to be. I embodied my dreamer. The results? Not only was I happier, but I gained a new level of confidence and belief in my dream. I wasn’t just talking about my dream; I was already living a piece of it. It had a profound impact on catapulting me forward and helping accomplish the dream faster and with greater ease.

Who do you dream of being and how can you start to live that way TODAY?

Dear Marcia,

I've listened to your tapes at least five times this past year. I'm a widow of 16 years with four children. All my energy was about survival and seeing my kids to adulthood, until the past few years.

I began creating clothing out of beautiful hankies, table cloths, napkins, etc. The pieces talk to me and the outcome is stunning. My dream is to do a fashion show at a spa in exchange for a free week, as you've done. Or perhaps on a cruise ship. How do I go about it?

Bless you, V.

Dear V.

I am inspired by your life and expression of creativity and beauty. Clearly, you are a woman who knows a great deal about realizing dreams, as I am sure your family would attest. I love your vision for the shows and encourage you to explore it. Speaking at a spa can be as easy as making a phone call to the director...they love all kinds of programs that are geared toward balance and beauty. One of my favorites that I have spoken for is the Red Mountain Spa in Utah. Make the call, share your passion and be flexible in how you “package” your program to meet their needs, too.
